Challenge Cup draw: numbers and odds

Today sees the draw for the last-16 of the Challenge Cup take place. For those that want to watch it’s live on the BBC News channel at 6:30 this evening.

This round sees the top eight from Super League last season enter the competition while the weekend saw two of the top flight’s sides exit the competition.

Leigh – who have caused their fair share of upsets in the past couple of years – were dumped out by Hull KR, who are seeking an instant return to Super League while Swinton Lions heaped more misery on Huddersfield Giants, a side that can’t seem to buy a win.

Meaning the victors from the last round are as follows: Leeds, Hull KR, Salford, Swinton, Dewsbury, Featherstone, Halifax, Barrow.

Below are the entrants to the next round of the competition with their best betting price available. After the draw we’ll see if there are any changes. There might well be if a couple of the heavyweights are paired together:

  1. Barrow Raiders (1000/1)
  2. Castleford Tigers (9/2)
  3. Catalans Dragons (20/1)
  4. Dewsbury Rams (1000/1)
  5. Featherstone Rovers (250/1)
  6. Halifax (1000/1)
  7. Hull FC (6/1)
  8. Hull KR (150/1)
  9. Leeds Rhinos (8/1)
  10. Salford Red Devils (14/1)
  11. St Helens (9/1)
  12. Swinton Lions (1000/1)
  13. Wakefield Trinity (50/1)
  14. Warrington Wolves (7/1)
  15. Widnes Vikings (100/1)
  16. Wigan Warriors (4/1)

There has been a minimal change from Friday when this piece was published. One wouldn’t expect too much movement until either after the draw, or when the matches come around in May.
