Salford’s meeting with Widnes could be a really tricky contest to call. Salford have a strong home record and are rightly favourites (1/3) to pick up the points but they have yet to win by more than 10 points at the AJ Bell Stadium this season.
Coupled with Widnes showing signs of improvement – culminating in their victory over St Helens last week, this could be a pretty tight encounter. Having said that, the Vikings can be susceptible to a beating.
But Widnes have been given a +10 start and at 10/11 (or Evens if you have a Betfair account) we find to be a reasonable bet. For the Vikings to make it back-to-back wins you can get them at 3/1. It’ll be a tough ask for them, but that could be seen as generous.
Five out of Salford’s seven wins this season have been between 1 and 10 points which you can get at 11/4. Four of those victories have been between 6-10 points which can be found at 5/1 with several bookmakers. If you fancy Salford to win by the same margin they did at the Select Security Stadium earlier on in the season (36), a 36-40 point margin win is available at 25/1.
Widnes certainly have a bit of fight in them. Given they have recorded just the two wins, it is pretty hard to spot a trend.
They have won by 13 points away at Leigh – 11-15 points is available at 20/1 while you can get 11-20 point victory at 10’s – and by two points at home to Leigh. A 1-5 point victory for the Vikings is available at 9/1. Still, 3/1 on a Widnes win if you fancy them is worth a look.
